Does anyone know what years el caminos had the reinforcement bracket that goes the length of the bumper? Here are some pics of some bumpers I have with and without the extra inside bracket.El Camino Rear Bumper Brackets Rear_b10El Camino Rear Bumper Brackets Rear_b11

I'll take a guess that the one with a lot less reinforcement is probably from '73 (since that new bumper standards for the rear didn't take effect till the '74 model year). But like I said this is only a guess.drunken

my guess is they are both 73's (no bumper shocks) and one is for a elky and the other is for a station wagon.scratch

I would say Chris is right both 73 and ones wagon and ones El Camino since there are no shocks

I would tend to agree with that line of thinking about the year 1973. The only problem is the one without the inside reinforcement bracket is from a 1975 el camino and the one with the reinforcement is from a 77. I'm lost on this one.

My parts catalog doesn't show the reinforcement bar across the inside of the rear bumper on the El Camino & Sprint, just the end brackets, which is how my '75 is made.

The 75 I'm working on right now does not have the reinforcement brace either. I'm thinking it might be dependent on whether it has a rubber bumper guard on the outside??? The GM chassis manual I have for 1975 shows to have the brace so I'm at a loss.
