Oh I miss her, This was my folks driveway circa 1985
Been looking for these pix for months-wish i could find the car
And yes, thats what's left of a neighbors VEGA in the background
PLUS I actually figgered out how to post a pic.

I wish I took more pictures of my first car. Bought a 1975 monte in 1984 and repainted it in 1988.

Oh, hell. I got a "grown up" job when i was 22, and I thought rolling into the lot in that with the glasspacks would make me look too redneck. Sold it to a guy for $800 and bought a baby blue (Iswear) 83 cougar.
Went looking for it not long ago and found the guy I sold it to. he said the last time he saw it, it was in his dads garage in 200 pieces, and that was 10 years ago. DAMMIT!
so i got the guna instead.

I junked mine in 91. took it to a scrap yard and watched the crane pick it up and put it on top of a pile
but i have seen other ones on the net and brought back some memories.

Dig the root beer brown!
I think I've told my story a few times, but here's a crappy pic of my old 70 Chevelle in the background (my first CAR). My very first vehicle was a 68 short wide Chevy, but I never drove it so I count the 70 as #1. Yes that's the old 76 in the foreground & sorry I don't have any other pics at the moment (I'll have to dig). When this picture was taken, I was actually in the process of restoring it (restomod??). A few months later, a freak accident burnt the car to nothing. Just months after that is when I lost my 76 & my interest in A-bodies went bye bye for a couple of years while I dabbled with Eclipses.

The Monte is not my first car. My first car - a 74 Chevelle - was stolen.

Re: Looky! Looky what I found!
Here's a picture of my first car 72 malibu 307 2bbl auto. it was orange originally.
I bought this in 1990 for $400. I was 15 years old and worked on it allmost everyday that summer. I never got to drive it though...i sold it before i got my licence so i could buy a 69 chevelle 396bb 4 speed instead.
Now that was a fun car!

Re: Looky! Looky what I found!
My first car was a 1954 Furd 4 door. I did all the body work and everything else except the actual building of the engine. I bought a 352 Furd engine and had it bored and stroked to 428 and pu 2 four barrels and the wildest cam in that I could find. It was a screamer, but I never could beat my dad's 60 Chevy, which had a 409 in it. They can be seen at http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/view/19847223

Lol, don't worry about it. I'm totally over it. It was 2 and a half years ago. My MC is a much better car than that Chevelle was.

JB-Have I seen one of the Powell's cars at a car show that somebody restored? Seem to remember seeing one like it at last years Carl Casper show.

Re: Looky! Looky what I found!
Yes, there is a replica on the show circuit. It is about 6 or 8 years old. The guy was trying to pass it off as the original until I told him who I was. Seemed like a nice guy. He had the car for sale when I talked to him about 2 or 3 years ago. Funny thing, when you get to my age you have a hard time with time frames like that.
