Flat tappet or roller ?? If it's flat tappet, it's gonna be quite noisy in your garage for about half an hour !! Very Happy

I have Comp Cams magnum "roller" tappets. I have hearing protectors too. Wink

This was last years head swap (with the old cam) before I pulled the motor after discovering the oil leak. It's only about 15 seconds but it was loud as heck w/ no mufflers (Turn it up):

This weekend was a dud. Turns out I need to snag or fab a spacer for between the Alt & cylinder head on the back side where the long bolt goes- otherwise it'll be crooked. I should have caught that one. Also turns out I need a new battery too as the old one won't recharge past 40% & that won't give me enough to crank the motor. I think I need to recharge my-self & take a break from the car for a few days.

Glad to hear you have roller tappets ! That spacer behind the alternator is one like I lost once, and had to make one !

And I know very well about needing a re-charge for yourself ! Very Happy

Welcome to the club ! After working on my project for almost 3 years, I keep finding new stuff I bought, & forgot. Sometime bought the same part twice !! Very Happy

Well I discovered Indy Auto Parts today. A 10 minute ride two towns over.

Got everything left on my list (and a little sum' extra). They also had a pigtail for the Tach- IN STOCK! Just have to do a couple more things & s/b good for a run tomorrow.

Gotta find the damn overflow bottle, I bet it's with Chris' rear cover but hey, Very Happy

Life is good!

Cool,Ive got the TL blacktop box set you have there as well. Go for the pipes ! That looks like a friends 55 here in town.

P.S. Just went got my 77 out and did a burnout in front of my house. Ran good.

When you install parts and aren't sure, witness marks are a guide. Like for example, the marks from the flex plate bolts on the rear side & crank marks on the front side etc.
