hi everyone !! this is J from ohio. i have owned a 77 malibu classic since 1988. it has 69,000 miles on it. i use it primarilly for drag racing, usually at milan dragway or norwalk raceway, with best time of 10.57 @ 128 on nitrous / 11.39 @ 114 on motor . i run 468 chevy with a powerglide trans. This car is still street driven every once and a while to the local pop stand, or to late night grudge races!! i also have a "race only" tube chassis 71 ford pinto (streched 12"), with big block chevy and powerglide for power (of course). check my picts to see them. any questions id be happy to answer, i have replaced practically every nut and bolt on the malibu.

Are you talking about a stock 77? If so, if the 5th letter of the VIN is a Q, then its a 305 with 145 HP and has no torque, LOL. If the 5th letter is V, then you have a 350 cube with 170 HP. JB

this car weighs 3750lbs with me in it (i weigh 160). that is with an iron headed big block chevy(468). hp is guessed around 515. with torque around 530. this is a basic engine package, 9.5 compression, oval port heads, solid cam. you just need parts that are matched for your application...in my case TORQUE !!! i realy havent lightened the car up much...gutted the bumpers, fiberglass seats. body is still all steel. This engine in my 2100lb PINTO goes 9.40's at 142mph. (although i also have a BIG motor for that/ 8.80's at 151mph)

on the rear i run mt slicks, 29.5 x 10.5. i even use these when i drive it on the street (never had a problem...yet!!). the rear wheels are 15 x 8, with 4 inch backspace. tires fit fine with no cutting, or fender tweeking. rear gearing is 4.10, (i have had plenty of others in it /it slows down with 4.56 /3.73). like this...on motor it crosses the finishline at 6600rpm @ 114 (it has a loose converter in it...5000-5500stall)

yea we had a 28x11.5 slick on the back of our 73, it fit no problem
